Neither Garden Key, nor any of the other Tortugas, have any source of fresh water. Rainwater was (and is) collected on the tops of the walls of the fort into cisterns capable of holding a million and a half gallons. Currently this water is currently reserved for emergency situations; current fresh water production is carried out through the use of desalinizers from the USS Tortuga.
